WHY YOU SHOULD HIRE ME TO WRITE OR EDIT FOR YOU In more than two decades as a professional writer and editor, I've shaped everything from fundraising pitches to acceptance speeches, catalog copy to jacket copy, audio-visual scripts to radio scripts, web site articles and newspaper op-eds to journal articles and full-length books. And I've always garnered rave reviews. (See client endorsements below.) Does your article or book manuscript need polishing, pruning, or even substantial revision? My clients range from widely-published journalists whose copy could benefit from a tweak here and there -- to businessmen and professors who know their field inside and out, but need an extra set of editorial eyes to communicate their knowledge in the clearest, most effective way possible. Are your sales slumping despite a wonderful product or service? Maybe your direct-mail copy needs more punch and color. Maybe your display ad needs to arouse curiosity more quickly...and highlight benefits more clearly. Is your web site failing to attract the traffic it deserves? Perhaps the text on the home page needs to be proofed and copy-edited--or a regular column added to draw repeat visitors. No luck booking job interviews? Let me help you make your resume and cover letter more concise, compelling, and focused -- to increase the chances a prospective employer will call you. First impressions count...and first impressions often consist of the written word. So send me an email at bestwriter[at]fastmail.fm to tell me what you need, and I'll tell you what I can do. WHAT I CHARGE Copywriting: $100 to $250 per double-spaced page
A word about fees: The range of fees indicated is approximate; the actual charge will depend on the requirements of your project. I don't give "estimates." Once it is clear what your job entails, I will tell you the full price you need to pay (assuming you don't add to the job later). Please note that I typically require a minimum of 50 percent of my fee to be paid in advance, with the balance due upon completion of the work. (The fee covers the original draft I submit to you plus up to two revisions, should any further work be needed to accommodate your feedback. If further tweaking is minor I may accommodate those without further charge.) "David M. Brown has been invaluable to me in his editorial capacity. Many of my published essays, and several of my books, have had the benefit of his editorial scrutiny and revisions and they are all the better for it. I recommend his work most enthusiastically." "I hate to admit that David M. Brown is such a great editor, because I like people to think I can string a good sentence together without calling in a professional. But David is fantastic. He has added enormous punch, wit and humor to my writing. Plus, he can spell and even knows grammar rules. We always want the most advanced weapons at our disposal; as writer and as editor, David M. Brown is a weapon of mass instruction." "In addition to being a fine editor, David is a pleasure to work with and very professional. I look forward to working with him again!" "David M. Brown is a writer's writer who approaches his craft with clarity, acumen and wit. His penetrating prose synthesizes all relevant information and presents it in a way that engages and convinces each target audience. Trust me, you want David on the job. He's expeditious and prolific, delivering time and time again. I've found his services invaluable....You should pay David to write stuff for you. You'll wonder how you ever did without him." "David M. Brown has acted as an editor on more than a few articles of
mine. I can always be assured that he'll challenge me to new heights and
improve the final product. He's terrific!" “I consider myself to be a very good writer. But every professional writer, even a very good one, needs a very good editor to bring out his best work. Fortunately for me, David M. Brown is a very good writer and editor. As I built my professional web site and prepared its showcase essay, David’s editorial feedback was simply invaluable. His eyes never missed the tiniest detail, and his ears were sensitive to the faintest nuance of language. David M. Brown is a true craftsman, and I recommend his writing and editing services enthusiastically.” To contact David M. Brown about his editorial service, send him an email at bestwriter[at]fastmail.fm.
